Treeline Terrains Announces New Ownership: Custom Wood Map Company Begins a New Chapter With Maple Landmark

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Middlebury, Vermont — May 9th— Treeline Terrains, the Vermont-based company known for its handcrafted 3D wooden maps, is proud to announce a new partnership opening an exciting new chapter for the brand. After four years of building the business from the ground up, founders Alex Gemme, Jacob Freedman, and Nathaniel Klein have partnered with Mike Rainville of Maple Landmark to carry Treeline Terrains forward with fresh energy and expanded potential.

Inspired by their shared love of Vermont skiing, Treeline Terrains founders were looking for a creative way to capture their experience skiing at the Middlebury Snowbowl. Using satellite mapping technology, they brought their idea to the woodshop to create a perfectly accurate 3D model of the mountain. The carving detailed each slope, trail, and descent where the friends had shared many winter days. Today, Treeline Terrains captures the topography of the places you love in wood-carved models. Each model celebrates place-based experiences, such as a father and son hiking trip in Montana or a beloved family campsite in Maine. Since its inception in 2021, the company has served thousands of customers across the country, offering personalized pieces that celebrate place, memory, and the natural landscape.

“As a founder, it’s incredibly meaningful to see something you built continue to grow beyond you,” said Jacob Freedman, Founder of Treeline Terrains. “This partnership is not a typical business acquisition, but really adding more Vermonters to the team to increase our skills and reach.  I’m confident this will help Treeline Terrains not only reach a wider audience, but also improve our woodworking."

The new owner, Mike Rainville, President and founder of Maple Landmark, brings over 50 years of experience crafting wood. Most Vermonters know Maple Landmark for their iconic Name Trains, but Mike and his team of 35 employees are well-versed in all aspects of wood products. Both businesses share a deep commitment to locally sourced materials and community engagement. “We couldn’t have asked for a better person to take our business to new places,” said Nathaniel Klein, co-founder of Treeline Terrains.

With this transition, Maple Landmark will assume day-to-day operations and continue producing the high-quality maps that Treeline Terrains’ customers know and love.

Map enthusiasts can expect a seamless transition, with continued attention to quality, design, and customer service. Orders will continue as usual, and the Maple Landmark team looks forward to launching new products that incorporate 3D maps.

“I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has supported Treeline over the years—our customers, partners, and community,” said Klein. “This isn’t a goodbye, but an amazing new chapter for our brand.”
